While on a hike to see some of the ancient ruins of Hovenweep National Monument in Southwestern Colorado this Spring I came across this lizard. He found a perch on a small rock and seemed to be posing for me, dipping his head up and down in an interesting display. I took several photos of him and was even able to get down on his level. This is one of the better shots displaying his magnificent coloration.
